Satan the moderniser |
In the Garden of Eden Satan’s approach to Eve is remarkably modern.
God’s word is clear: ‘Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.’
But what happens? Satan says to Eve, ‘Has God really said, ‘you shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?’
‘Yes Eve think for yourself. The world is full of possibilities. There are other options. Why limit yourself. Experiment, find out, you decide. It’s time to grow up and become as God. Don’t take God’s word for it. And she gives up Paradise for a piece of fruit. The power of a lie.
